We all feel frustrated sometimes.
Frustration is a reaction to our recurring, unresolved stressors that lead to "impulses or actions that prevent us from obtaining something we have come to expect based on past experience."
All frustrations are either internal or external.
Internal frustration is directed towards ourselves. It occurs when we are unhappy with who we are or what we have done.
External frustration is directed at stressors and circumstances that prevent us from getting what we want.
Are we frustrated and upset because of our circumstances because it feels like God has abandoned us? Or have we considered that perhaps God is protecting us from someone, something, or a situation?
In Job 5:12, we see that God ties the hands of the wicked. Although we may be frustrated at what is happening, sometimes we need to consider the bigger picture.
Frustration makes us angry, irritable, and sad. Long-term frustration can lead to nightmares.
It is important to learn to deal with frustration and develop a tolerance for dealing with difficult circumstances. The higher our tolerance is, the more we can handle frustrating situations.
We need to identify what is frustrating us if we want to find a solution.
When we can change something about the situation, we need to learn to go out of our way to change it, no matter how difficult it may be sometimes.
If we can't do anything about the situation, sometimes we need to stop focussing on what's giving us a difficult time and return to it later with a clearer mind.
We need to learn to focus on Christ instead of our frustration. It is an overwhelming feeling, but it will pass with time.
Sometimes we need to change our lifestyle and learn to eat regularly, exercise more often, and improve our sleep hygiene. it is important that we diminish our stress levels.
Let us cry out to the Lord when we are frustrated because we know that He will always deliver us.
Dear God,
I feel frustrated about my circumstances and am not sure what to do. Guide me through these difficult times and reveal what changes need to be made in my life. Help me during this frustrating season in my life, and give me the strength to keep persevering.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
