The Renewed Mind

Do we have a "renewed mind"? What is a renewed mind, and why does it matter?

A renewed mind means worshipping God in all situations and circumstances.

This does not mean that we are happy when we go through difficult moments in our lives, or that we are expected to enjoy tribulations. Instead, it means that when we are stressed, we go to God and ask Him to be a part of our lives.

Worshipping in all things means surrendering ourselves wholly to God.

In Romans 11:1-2, Paul talks about Christian living as presenting our bodies as living sacrifices to God. While the concept of "sacrifice" has a very different connotation today than it did back then, being a living sacrifice means giving ourselves to God and trusting in Him completely.

Being a living sacrifice means worshipping God in all situations and transforming our mentality. By doing this, we become holy.

In the middle of the storms in our lives, we learn to turn our eyes to God and trust that He will lead us.

In Isaiah 29:13, we see an example of the Israelites worshipping God in word, but not in their minds. Having a renewed mind means being sincere when we come before God and ask Him to be exalted in all circumstances, even the difficult ones.

How are we living our lives? Are we miserable? Angry? Defeated?

We need to learn to lean on God. A renewed mind doesn't happen overnight- it's a conscious effort to focus on Him when nothing makes sense in our lives.

The only way that Peter was able to walk on water was when his eyes were on Christ instead of the storm around him.

Christ can heal our broken hearts- we just need to step out in faith and trust Him completely.

Dear God,

I want to have a renewed mind and present myself to you as a living sacrifice for the sake of your glory. I am not perfect, but I know that you will be there when I stumble. Help me keep my eyes on you in all situations, and teach me to lean on you.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
